Understanding Annie's Journey
Annie's journey began with a diagnosis of DiGeorge syndrome, accompanied by a congenital heart defect (CHD) and scoliosis. While these conditions present unique obstacles, they have also revealed Annie's incredible strength and unwavering spirit. Despite her quick fatigue, Annie is always eager to engage with the world around her.

Congenital heart defect
A congenital heart defect is a problem with the structure of the heart that a child is born with. Some congenital heart defects in children are simple and don't need treatment. Others are more complex. The child may need several surgeries done over a period of several years.

Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a side-to-side curve of the spine. It's most often diagnosed after age 10 or in the early teen years. The spine can curve to either side and in different parts of the back. Experts don't know the cause of most childhood scoliosis.
"Annie is a constant reminder of the strength and resilience of the human spirit. Her joy is infectious, and her determination is inspiring."
