Long term goal

 By the next annual review, Annie will use 3–4 word spoken phrases to express needs, wants, and basic social messages during daily school routines with no more than one verbal prompt in 80% of opportunities across 3 consecutive data days.

Short term goals

 Within 9 weeks, Annie will use 3–4 word phrases to request, protest, or comment during structured activities (ex: snack, centers) in 70% of opportunities across 3 consecutive data days.   

 Within 18 weeks, Annie will answer simple “what/where/who” questions about familiar routines or pictures with a verbal response in 4 out of 5 opportunities across 3 consecutive data days.

Within 27 weeks, Annie will participate in simple back-and-forth exchanges for at least 3 conversational turns with an adult or peer, given visual or verbal cues, in 80% of opportunities across 3 consecutive data days.

Assistive technology

Picture-based communication supports: Core-word boards, PECS-style picture cards, and choice boards for “more,” “all done,” “help,” “stop,” “tired,” etc., posted at table, centers, and rest areas.   Visual schedules and first/then boards: Low-tech visuals that show snack, rest, play, therapy, making routines predictable and supporting her understanding and expressive language.
